Day 1 morning: Welcome, introductions, introduction to the program
Day 1 afternoon: Introduction to the risks of explosive atmospheres
General information on ATEX (gas and dust),
Types of explosions: deflagration, detonation, etc.
Sources of ignition (electrical, mechanical, static electricity, etc.)
Day 2 morning: ATEX regulations and standards
ATEX Directive 99/92/EC: Regulations on the protection of workers and ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU: Regulations on equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres
Definition of zones according to the presence of gases, vapors, dust; examples of zone classification according to industrial installations
Day 2 afternoon: ATEX equipment and materials
Types of ATEX equipment (electrical and non-electrical equipment)
Identification and certification of ATEX equipment (CE marking, Ex marking)
Use of measuring and monitoring devices in ATEX zones
Approach to the different modes of protection for electrical and non-electrical ATEX equipment
Maintenance and inspection of ATEX equipment: rules for working in ATEX zones (PPE, sockets and gases, etc.)
Presentation of certifications: Ism-ATEX, Ref. ATEX and IECEx.
Day 3 morning: Prevention and protection principles
Sources of ignition: sparks, heat, electrostatic discharges
Preventive measures: ventilation, elimination of ignition sources
Explosion protection: containment systems, decompression, discharge
Maintenance of equipment in ATEX zones
Gas detection and risk monitoring systems

Day 3 afternoon: Questions and answers, round table discussion, final exam and presentation of certificates
Issuance of a certificate valid for 3 years by an INERIS-approved trainer.
