Training on modeling hazardous phenomena

Objectives

  • Understand the issues and principles of modeling hazardous phenomena: fire, atmospheric dispersion, and explosion

  • Learn about existing models, their advantages, scope, and limitations

  • Identify the criteria for choosing a modeling tool and the issues to consider when interpreting the results

Content

  • Day 1 morning: Welcome, introductions, introduction to the program

  • Day 1 afternoon: General presentation of phenomenology in video and modeling principles

  • Day 2: For each of the three phenomena: mathematical representation of the physics of the phenomenon, different modeling tools available, selection criteria, application with exercises on each phenomenon

  • Day 3: Introduction to modeling hazardous phenomena, and exercises with different case studies and use of the European Commission's ADAM software and INERIS's PRIMARISK platform

  • Day 4 morning: Continuation of case studies. Questions and answers.

  • Day 4 afternoon: Round table discussion, closing and presentation of certificates
